Our Spanish program is based on the Warren Hardy School of San Miguel de Allende. Warren Hardy designed and taught Spanish courses to adult learners in major corporations for over 20 years. He is a nationally recognized author and innovator of Spanish language-instruction. He founded the Warren Hardy School for adult learners in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, in 1990. These courses are designed for the adult student. Students are enthusiastic about the program and report it is excellent.

LCS - SPANISH COURSE OFFERINGS 2015

Length of term: 7 weeks (NOTE: Times and locations may vary each term)
Term 1: January 5 through February 21
Term 2: March 2 through April 25 (includes one week of vacation for Semana Santa)
Term 3: May 11 through June 27
Term 4: July 6 through August 22
Term 5: September 7 through October 24
Term 6: November 2 through December 19


Intro to Spanish $175 MXN

First 3 Tuesdays of the month 12:00 - 1:30, LCS Gazebo

This class is for those with no background in Spanish. Pronunciation, vocabulary and social protocol are introduced. No materials are required; instructor provides extensive handouts. New classes begin on the first Tuesday of each month. Sign up in LCS services office. $175 (includes IVA). Classes held in the LCS Gazebo. See also class policies.

Warren Hardy Classes $750 MXN

Classes are priced based on a minimum class size of four students. In case fewer students wish to take a given class, additional fees are required. Materials are not included in the enrollment price.

Students will be advised by email prior to the beginning of a given class if the number of students registered falls below minimum of four. Upon agreement by the registered students to pay an additional amount, the class will commence with each student paying the higher fee which is due the first day of class.

All classes will be limited to a maximum of twelve students.  

Materials may be purchased in LCS Service Office. (See materials price list.) Classes falling on a holiday when LCS is closed will be rescheduled by the instructor. See also class policies.

Classes meet for seven weeks and are held at the Wilkes Education Center, Galeana #18.

Level 1A & 1B: Power Verbs
    Level 1A: Mon/Wed, 11:30-1:00
    Level 1B: Mon/Wed, 1:15-2:45

Level 1 is the grounding course. Students learn to function in Spanish. Besides teaching social protocol, students learn to combine the 100 most common verbs with the six power verbs: need, want, can, going to, have to, and like. (See materials price list and class policies.)

Levels 2A & 2B: Preterit Regular Verbs & Object Pronouns
    Level 2A - Mon/Wed, 3:00-4:30
    Level 2B - Tues/Thu 9:00-10:30

Level 2A uses the first half of Warren Hardy's book 2, level 2B uses the second half. These levels take you to the high functional level so you can obtain information about past events. It teaches word order, the use of the Direct and Indirect Object pronouns and the Preterit past tense for regular verbs. (See materials price list and class policies.)

Levels 3A & 3B: Seven Indicative Tenses
    Level 3A - Tues/Thu, 10:45-12:15
    Level 3B - Tues/Thu, 12:30 - 2:00

Level 3 takes you into the conversational level so you can begin to express your personality and thought patterns in Spanish. After this course you will know seven tenses. It teaches six tenses and integrates the seven indicative tenses. As with Levels 2A and 2B, Level 3A uses the first half of Warren Hardy's book 3; 3B the second half. Level 4: Present and Past Subjunctive

In level 4, you will learn the present and past subjunctive and practice integrating the nine Spanish tenses. The subjunctive will empower you to manage people and express your wants in a diplomatic way. You will learn Spanish at the mastery level and feel comfortable speaking Spanish in business and social settings. (See materials price list and class policies.)

Conversational Spanish Classes

Participation in the LCS Conversation Class will be limited to those students who have completed at least Level 2B and are currently taking LCS Warren Hardy Spanish classes Level 3A, Level 3B or Level 4 through LCS. The LCS Conversation class is not to be taken alone when the student has not completed through Level 4. This means that students who have not completed Levels 3A through Level 4 must take their regular class (i.e. 3B) in addition to the Conversation class.
Graduates of Warren Hardy Level 4 (given through LCS) will be admitted with instructor approval. All other interested students will be considered at the sole discretion of LCS and will require an interview with the program instructor. Priority will be given to students who have taken the Warren Hardy classes through LCS. See also class policies.

Spanish Program Policies 

Seven Week WH Spanish Classes $750 MXN

  1. Spanish language classes are open to all current LCS members. LCS membership can be obtained at the LCS office for either an annual membership or month-to-month membership.
  2. Tuition is due at the time of enrollment in the class.
  3. Class schedules are determined on a yearly basis and cannot be changed to accommodate an individual request.
  4. Single class schedules can be changed by the instructor, as needed to accommodate needs seen as deemed appropriate by the instructor.
  5. Class materials are available from LCS and typically include a workbook and practice flashcards. Materials are available for sale in the LCS Service Office, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. It is noted that LCS cannot be responsible if enrollment for a given term is greater than expected, resulting in too few books/materials being available. Students can also order their own materials directly from the Warren Hardy School in San Miguel De Allende, MX at http://warrenhardy.com. Pirated materials will not be allowed in class.
  6. A student will be eligible for a full refund if, prior beginning of the second class, the instructor is advised that the student does not wish to continue. No refund will be given if the second class has been attended and/or no request for refund has been received prior to the second scheduled class. Exceptions may include a student health issues or other acceptable reason as determined by the Spanish Program Manager. In such cases, applying tuition paid to the next term may be an option.
  7. In the case of a student dropping class, as described above (6), no refund will be available for any/all materials purchased by the student.

Conversation Classes $750 MXN

Participation in the LCS Conversation class will be limited to those students who have completed at least Level 2B and are currently taking LCS Warren Hardy Spanish classes Level 3A, Level 3B or Level 4 through LCS. The LCS Conversation class is not to be taken alone when the student has not completed through Level 4.   4. The policies listed for all other seven week courses (above) apply to the Conversation class with the following exceptions regarding class size and fee.

Upon agreement by the registered students to pay an additional amount, the class will commence with each student paying the higher fee which is due the first day of class.
  7. All classes will be limited to a maximum of 10 students.  

Introductory Classes $175 MXN

  1. Introductory Spanish classes are open to all current LCS members. LCS membership can be obtained at the LCS office for either an annual membership or month-to-month membership.
  2. Tuition is $175 pesos and is due at the time of enrollment in the class.
  3. Class schedules are determined on a yearly basis and cannot be changed to accommodate an individual request.
  4. Single class schedules can be changed by the instructor, as needed to accommodate needs seen as deemed appropriate by the instructor.
  5. Class materials are provided to the student during the class as hand-out materials.
  6. A student will be eligible for a full refund if, prior beginning of the second class, the instructor is advised that the student does not wish to continue. No refund will be given if the second class has been attended and/or no request for refund has been received prior to the second scheduled class. Exceptions may include a student health issues or other acceptable reason as determined by the Spanish Program Manager. In such cases, applying tuition paid to the next term may be an option.
  7. Minimum class size to warrant providing the classes is 4 students. Maximum class size is 18 students.
